Comprehensive Visualizations on PiSA4U

The comprehensive visualizations of empirical data from the PISA study allow for direct monitoring and comparison of data, as well as of trends observed in selected variables and indicators for Greece and other countries. The focus is on personal, family/social, and school-related factors that the literature has identified as important in analyses and, more specifically, in interpreting student performance in the core literacy subjects (mathematics, reading, and science).

Business intelligence technologies (Tableau and Microsoft PowerBI) were utilized, and a specialized application and package were developed in R (MyPISA4U) to enable the parametric visualization of analyses of interest to users. The visualizations interoperate with the repository and the data warehouse.

The visualizations were developed as part of the project “Creation of Research Infrastructures, Processing of Research Material, and Communication of Results of International Educational Research,” with Professor Anastasios Emvalotis of the University of Ioannina serving as the Principal Investigator. It was funded under the Program Agreement between the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports and the University of Ioannina through the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports’ Sectoral Development Program for 2021–2025.
